Health and Beauty Treatments at The Haven

Aromatherapy uses essential oils to improve physical and emotional well-being. It is believed that the oils, extracted from plants, possess distinctive therapeutic properties which can be used to improve health and to prevent disease. Here at The Haven we select the oils that are most suitable for you on the day you come, and then massage them into your body. This treatment is available to men and women.

Back & Shoulder Massages are useful for those are aware of the tension they hold in their necks. The treatments can be given with either essential oils or with a carrier oil. This treatment is available to men and women.

In our Chinese Acupressure Facial, the therapist uses an ancient technique based on the principles of acupuncture, but using the fingers instead of needles. She places her fingers on specific points on the face to access and release blocked or congested energy centres and so to release the flow of what is called Qi, Ki or Chi.
Your therapist: Tina: 15 minutes £20. When combined with a mask and massage, this takes one hour and costs £40.

Counselling sessions provide the opportunity to understand who we are, why we do what we do, and if we decide it’s appropriate, to make the changes that will help us to lead happier and more productive lives. Our counsellor uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Transactional Analysis (TA), both of which are particularly useful in understanding issues around weight, but which are applicable to every part of lives. Sessions are available for men and women and the initial brief (15 minute) consultation is free.
Your counsellor: Lynda. 50 minutes: £35. A series of six weekly sessions is recommended.

Eyelash & Eyebrow Tinting are offered either as stand-alone treatments or combined with others. Please note: you will need a test patch done 24 hours beforehand.

Facials: We offer two different Facial styles. The Aromatherapy Facial Massage uses natural products. The face is cleansed and toned prior to skin analysis. A special face mask is then applied to suit your skin type. Balaton Facials use organic Balaton Spa Products which provide a deep, holistic healing action to take away stress and tiredness

Tina for the Balaton Facial: 30 minutes: £24. When combined with a mask and massage, this takes 45 minutes and costs £35.

Gaia Therapy has evolved from Reiki, channelling warm, healing energy that comes through the practitioner’s hands to activate the mind, body and spirit’s ability to distress, relax and rebalance itself. The practice supports better sleep, brings emotional balance and promotes well-being. Clients remain fully clothed, and the treatment is available to men and women.

Indian Head Massage (or Champissage, as it’s known in India) is a massage traditionally practised by Indian women. It is applied to the hair and scalp using a variety of oils, differing with each season to keep hair strong, lustrous and in good condition. In India, head massage is also performed by barbers in order to stimulate and refresh the scalp. This treatment is available to men and women.

Indonesian Massage works on the meridian lines of the body, which makes it different from Swedish massage (see below). It starts with dry techniques after which oil is added. Deep tissue moves are applied and nodules are treated. This is a whole body treatment – from toes to ears! – including the face and a sit-up at the end. Deep colonic work is undertaken on the stomach using a fantastic tightening technique. The result of this upbeat massage is increased energy as well as improved balance and harmony of all the internal organs and systems. This is a great ‘maintenance’ treatment for men and women that leaves you feeling energised and stimulated.

LaStone Therapy was originally based on the traditional healing practice of the Native American Indian. Hot and cold basalt and marble stones are used throughout the treatment to stimulate the body. The therapy produces both energising and sedative responses in the body, leaving clients feeling relaxed and energised – and ready for anything! LaStone Therapy has been found to benefit men and women suffering from a wide range of problems and pain.

Reflexology works on the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet that correspond to all the glands, organs and parts of the body. Reflexology is a unique method of using the thumb and finger on these reflex areas. The treatment, which is offered to men and women, relieves stress and tension, improves the blood supply and promotes unblocking of nerve impulses.

Reiki is a Japanese word for Universal life force energy. The treatment encourages physical and emotional healing and spiritual growth. Your practitioner will act as a channel and draw down vibrations and energy which are then passed on to the client. Reiki can relieve pain, help to regenerate organs and tissue and unblocks energy. Clients can remain fully clothed and the treatment is available to both men and women.

Shiatsu Therapy is a traditional hands-on Japanese healing therapy designed to help Ki, Qi or Chi.energy to flow freely through the meridians of the body. It can help in a wide range of conditions, from specific injuries to more general symptoms of poor health. It is a deeply relaxing experience, available to both men and women, which is carried out fully clothed and either on a futon on the floor or on a chair. Regular sessions help to prevent the build-up of stress.

Sports Massage works on the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of the soft tissues of the body, eg muscles, ligaments and tendons. Although sports massage cannot totally replace exercise, its effects are similar to twenty minutes jogging, since both stimulate the body. Regular massage, with or without essential oils, is especially beneficial to clients who are force to lead sedentary lives. It improves blood circulation and lymphatic drainage and eliminates tissue wastes. This treatment is available for both men and women.

Swedish Massage relaxes muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones. Its purpose is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Among its attributes are that it reduces stress, both emotional and physical. It also has many medical uses. This treatment is available to both men and women.
